THE 1911 This is a classic example of the 1911A1 45 Auto pistol as used by the US military for over 80 years. The 1911 was designed by John Browning and adopted for service in the year 1911. The 1911 was replaced in the 1980s by the new berreta M9 9mm to standardize caliber with NATO. It is still thought to be one of the best defensive side arms and is still in production by more than 8 manufacturers.
